One thing I'm really looking forward to the next series of Being Human that starts January 10. I really enjoyed the first series-- in fact, I was hooked by the first four minutes of the first episode. It's about a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost who share a flat in Bristol. This sounds like the beginning of a joke, I know, but it's actually a great show, with good characters and good acting. It's a drama, but funny too. Mitchell struggles with his bloodlust, George turns into a wolf at the full moon, Annie has to learn the truth about her death and makes cups of tea, and they all try to be human, despite various obstacles, including a (very creepy in his apparent normality) vampire leader and problems with neighbors. I think it did well on the BBC and on BBC America, so perhaps some of you have seen it? What did you think?
I'm interested in what you are looking forward to next year!
Also, have any of you seen the movie Moon, starring Sam Rockwell and directed by Duncan Jones? I saw it when it came out this year, and, having gone in with only the vaguest idea of what it was about, was so impressed with it. Sam Rockwell has to carry the entire movie and does it brilliantly. It's about a man who works for a mostly automated mining operation on the moon with only a robot called GERTY for company. It's nearly the end of his three year stay when something odd and suspicious happens. I thought it was great and I was very impressed that it was a first film, made on a very small budget.
